Outing to the farm

A month ago we were invited by Samuel for an outing. His father has a small farm just outside Juigalpa and also a few horses. Some time ago Samuel had the idea to invite us for a day of rest and a change of environment, with some fresh air and the chance to ride a horse.

That sounded very nice, but would it actually happen? We knew it would when Samuel contacted us to set a date. Another friend, who always helps us with transport to the pool in her van or car, was also willing to help us this time.

Horse riding
During the trip we enjoyed the peace, nature, the hosts’ commitment to our residents and even a delicious lunch that they had prepared for us. Of course we brought a small gift for our hosts, made by the participants of the activity club. Some horses were already saddled and ready for anyone who wanted to have a ride. Manuel, Maria Elena and Jonathan had had riding experience, which was obvious when they were hoisted onto the horse. Loyda and Daniel had never been on horseback, but flowed with this new experience. The one who amazed us most was Miguel, also new to horse riding. He sat in the saddle like an experienced rider! Our staff also took the opportunity to ride a horse. For Scarleth it was the first time in her life!

Grateful
The outing ended with cutting the farewell cake. The vehicle came back for us all, and satisfied and grateful we got home a little later. It was an unforgettable day for most, and we all wanted this not to be a one-off event. Fortunately Samuel and his father had the same thought. So another date was fixed, with our promise that we would provide the lunch this time.

These are the gifts that come to us with some regularity and which make our lives so special. It widens the experience of our core members, and makes them feel appreciated, and in contact with people who are touched by our work. All of us together contributed to a better world.
