New on the Vivir Juntos Board

At the end of 2017 we were able to welcome Frits Leene to the Vivir Juntos Board. With his arrival the 3rd position on the Board is filled again.

Frits lived his early years in a house inside the compound of an institution for intellectually disabled persons where his father was a teacher. In his youth he worked for Stichting Nederlandse Vrijwilligers (Foundation of Dutch Volunteers) in a development project in the Philippines. After this he worked in several positions in the social care sector in the Netherlands. His background, affinity with and knowledge of intellectual disability equip him well to serve the Ruach home community in Juigalpa, Nicaragua. You’re very welcome, Frits!

Division of tasks

With Frits’ arrival we reviewed how to divide the tasks among us. It is clear that we would like to exploit Frits’ knowledge of the ‘disability care sector’ in the period ahead. Niko Tetteroo will continue to act as Secretary. And Jeroen Boggia will combine his role as the Chairperson with being the Treasurer. Audit committee

As the Foundation Vivir Juntos we are governed by financial regulations. Because we would like to give our donors and funding organisations a good insight into our financial affairs we will publish our 2017 annual report on our website as soon as possible. The reports for 2015 and 2016 can be read there. Our figures are vetted for accuracy by an audit committee. About the audit committee, the regulations state: “Every year the Board establishes an Audit Committee consisting of two people. Members of the committee should have sufficient demonstrable accountancy skills to be able to judge the accuracy of the financial figures. The members do not have family-, work- or friendship connections with each other or with any of the Vivir Juntos Board members. The audit committee produces an audit statement”.

The audit statement will be part of the annual report and will be published on the website. This year the members of the audit committee are the Treasurers of the Leiden-Juigalpa twinning relationship and the Nicaragua Committee in Haarlem. With the nomination of these two people we have managed to combine financial expertise with affinity with Nicaragua.
