Weal and woe

Besides the inevitable (but fortunately so far only small) setbacks that are inherent in starting a new project, it is harder to cope with the ups and downs in health of several members of our Board. So far one or another has been out of the running for a while. Here this is called ‘being with subsidy’.

If an employee has a contract the employer is legally obliged to register the employee for medical insurance, and to pay for the pension contribution. But many bosses, keen to save money, try to duck out of this responsibility.So many people have to cope on their own when they fall ill or reach an age that they are no longer able to work. The Staff of our Fundación are registered with the INSS, the social security bank.

Today I visited our chairperson and administrator Ana Alicia, who for the second time this week was admitted to a clinic because of her diabetes and psoriasis. She will stay there till Friday. We pray for sound judgment for the doctors, so that they will properly assess what she needs to get over her ailments.
