One of our new plans is to introduce the participants of the activities club to the tending of plants.
Behind the house where we run the activities club there is a piece of land where our participants help with weeding. They enjoy that, (see picture) which gave us the idea to start growing plants. We would like to start small , with every participant having his/her own plant in a pot, so that bit by bit we discover how we can expand the scheme, depending on the interest and potential of the participants.
It is not easy to get hold of good soil here. One cannot simply buy it in any supermarket. Therefore we wrote to the Director of Juigalpa’s agricultural school asking her for the gift of some soil. Soon afterwards we received not only a positve reply, but also a generous gift of six big plastic bags of soil, now waiting in our yard to be used for our sowing plan, to be started in January.
